The Ku Klux Klan supports Lee County Board of Commissioners and its choice to keep a portrait of Confederate Gen. Robert E. Lee, the county's namesake, hanging in chambers.

Probably going to have protests over this.

When I worked in Hopewell Virginia, the home of Governor Ultrasound (similar to the "Toys" sold at the "Adult" entertainment stores.) The local KKK meetings were announced on a Railroad overpass. Never did I think the KKK and Fundamentalist church would take over the once great Republican Party. Lee County is a simple blatant demonstration of the Civil-War-Not-Over mentality. Just like the N/S Korean divide.

Yes, Sarge69 the paid operatives of the party, members in UHH, focusing on Ugly, will be in here with the party line very soon.

Um. *cough*. Are t the DEMS the ones that had the market cornered in KKK Congressmen? (Byrd). The KKK is such an insignificant group that I didn't know they even still existed and you're talking about them taking over the GOP? Laughable.

The KKK is no more insignificant than the Tea Party was. Do not be fooled because they went underground for forty years. They are steeped in a history of racism, murder and brutality. To give them a voice in government; any government is unconscionable and the Lee County Board of Commissioners should all be thrown out of office.
The KKK are not Republicans or Democrats Tim, so just stop it. They are a subversive, terrorist organization just like Al Qaeda except they're all homegrown.

The KKK mentioned are only objecting to the removal of the portrait of Gen Lee, not advocating anything new, just objecting to the removal of the portrait. The local NAACP and other minority organizations want it removed.

I don't known of any GOP members of Congress that are former KKK members. The only one I know of in modern times was Byrd, D-WV. Yet it is DP that claims the KKK have taken over the Republican Party.

I think DP is just blinded by hatred.

There are always going to be people in the south that want to continue fighting the Civil War. Doesn't matter to me one way or the other weather they take it down or leave it hanging. Just because the KKK got involved in the matter doesn't make it a racial issue.

Oh, really!? Check out Trent Lott and Georgia's Bob Barr on Google or Bing. Their connections to speaking before racist (KKK endorsed) organizations is well documented.

So what if the KKK endorses a group? The KKK likely endorses Clorox, Tide, and Tommy Hilfiger's Linens. They might endorse Papa Johns for all we know.

R Paul believes in lesser, almost no government. Alas, thought the Hippies were gone, nope, they wear suits and still preach do away with the pigs, government in general. Paul thinks we can just all get along without those intrusive rules. Dream on!

Agreed. I was pointing out, in response to your original post, that there have been Republicans who were KKK connected. Judging by current trends in the GOP frat house mentality, there will be a few more in the coming silly season.

Don't kid yourself. I have a friend who is a FBI agent and he tells me that the greatest domestic threat they are concerned with are the white supremacy groups.

I agree with Dr. Paul. Or are you referring to his son? Either way, neither promotors almost no government but a slimmer, more efficient one.

It's kind of funny - Obama hinted to that a little bit in previous speeches. You know, like when he detailed all the govt agencies that deal with fish depending on where that fish is at a particular time. He said it was ridiculous. I agree. What has he done to change that over the past several years? Nothing.

We also have way too many intrusive federal regulations. Of course, you'll take that to mean that I believe we should have none but that would be incorrect. After all, I work for a federal regulatory agency to begin with so I believe that some regulations is necessary (or I wouldn't work here). For example, why is there a federal regulation saying that I cannot stand beyond the yellow line when the bus is in motion (I use public transit to get to work each morning at least from the park and ride)? Why would someone that innocently picks up a feather off the ground be thrown I jail and fined tens of thousands of dollars if that feather just so happened to have fallen off an eagle?

What about black supremacy groups like the Black Panthers?

What about black gangs like the Bloods and the Crypts? They peobably kill more people each year than white supremecist groups have their entire existence. What about influx of Mexican drug cartels?
