Thanks, Gary. I'm always pleased when a non-cat person enjoys one of my photos. Says there's appeal beyond the subject itself, so it's a successful shot.

And for the record, I detested cats myself--grew up a dyed-in-the-wool dog person--until I adopted an injured one many years ago, a big fluffy three-legged grey and white neutered male. He taught me the error of my ways, lol, and was the first of many feline friends to grace my home. I've not been without at least one cat in all the years since.

I hear the same story from lots of my clients--they hate cats...until they get one. For all their faults, they're amazing little creatures.

Thanks for your comment, it's very much appreciated!

We've had the Goose since she was a kitten; ten years later, we have yet to see our first golden egg. Were we swindled or what?! She's a nice cat and all, but promises were made!!!

I mean, if you can't believe a guy selling magic beans and yammering on about beanstalks and giants, who can you believe?

Can't afford a lawyer, but I've got this friend, name of Jack. Jack'll find him. Jack'll fix his wagon. You'll see.

Simply Beautiful, Randy.

Hi Randy, that is one gorgeous photograph and portrait. You are getting better by the minute. When enlarging it I see you have added a painterly quality. Was that done in Topaz Simplify or Adjust perhaps? Very nice softening touch. Would be interesting to see the original.

Thanks for that, Mare. A nice shot of her, and had a few decent ones in that session, as she held her pose for some minutes. Get lucky now and then. Not often, lol.

Thanks for looking! : )

Thank you, Ernie. Appreciate the compliment, and thanks for looking.

The painting was done with Simplify's BuzSimII preset. When I want a LOT of softening, as I've been doing lately (see 'Peachy Blue,' for example) I'm using Topaz's Detail3. It does a really nice job of that. But if I want just a little softness, Simplify does it best. I'll dig up the original and email it to you.

Thanks Randy. You are making the most of that software. Am I understanding correctly that Topaz's Adjust, Simplify, and Detail are all 3 separate sets of software? Or are they all included in Adjust?

They're all separate, Ernie. Topaz has around a dozen different programs. They can be purchased by themselves or as a complete suite. And they often are offered at 15-50 percent off, especially around holidays. All have thirty day free trials and free upgrades. Those you mentioned are the ones I use most often, but I do have a number of others. www.topazlabs.com

I can't compare them to NIK, as I haven't used that particular software, or OnOne's Photosuite, but would guess they're all reasonably similar. NIK was bought by Google, and the whole thing runs $149, a better deal than Topaz, but I don't know whether you can do a straight apples-apples comparison in all facets. Someone else might be able to tell you that.

Thanks Randy. The reason I asked is I just bought Topaz Adjust but have not had a chance to get to know it yet. I might pick up Simplify and Detail if they go on a hot sale again. (if you think those would be the best ones to add to my Adjust) I already have the Nik Collection. Part of it works as a slick plugin with my nikon NX2 software. I forgot if you shoot with a nikon...) Thanks again.
