I have purchased one of these & I'm wondering if anyone has one & give me some feedback on it.

Except for the connection to the camera, it looks just like the one I got for my Canon SX50. Has nice options for delayed shutter, intervalometer or just use as standard remote.

No instructions, so it does take a little playing around to find how to get it set.

Did the plug fit your SX50?

The one that I got did. It was sold as a replacement for the RS-60e3 so it has the 2.5mm plug that looks like a mini stereo plug.

If you search eBay for the RS-60e3 remote release you will find some like this under different names and a couple different styles as well as some regular wired and wireless ones. I am currently thinking about getting one like this that is wireless.

I'm going to order one for an Olympus PEN in a few minutes from eBay that can be used as a cable remote if you want by plugging the handset into the camera directly, or it can be used wireless by plugging the controller cable into a wireless receiver (hotshoe mountable if you want) instead and using the handset as a transmitter. I will likely use it wireless most of the time but it's good to have that wired backup available if one of the batteries are dead. $16.50 with free shipping from a NY supplier with no waiting for China Mail.

I bought an IF wireless remote for my Alpha 55 on eBay that didn't have a brand name on it but had the Sony "@" Alpha logo. It was $6 with free shipping. Works great! The Sony version was something like $30.

I reckon that is a Chinese copy of my Nikon MC-36a

If so, it might be worth downloading the manual from here;
http://www.nikonusa.com/pdf/manuals/tnirp/dslr_accesories/Remote_Release/MC-36.pdf

And see how it goes. It is probably exactly the same.

If so, it works fine though a bit messy to set up as an intervalometer for the first time. Take the batteries out to turn off.

Oliver.

I have one for my Oly and I love it. It's a knockoff but it works great. As I'm sure you know, you don't need a remote just to click a slow shutter - you can use the camera's timer. But the intervalometer feature is outstanding. That, and the time delay to take a photo or start a series. For example, set it up and go to bed, then let the thing automatically take a series of sunrise pics in the morning. Even use software to turn a series of pics into a time-lapse video!

If it came without instructions or if they're in Chinese English, search for a manual online (even the manual for the brand-name device will probably help.)
