How far can you change reality when you post process?

Well...pretty far.

We had a hot dog lunch at work today and I snapped a few images.

I took one of the "non-keepers" to see what I could get out of it.

I cropped it pretty aggressively, changed the WB...dodged and burned out a few non-essential elements, and then put a few soft/glow filters on it.

It's not the best image I ever got...but it's amazing how far removed from reality it is...

There's a great example of how a quick snapshot can be turned into a nice piece. I bet she'll love it!

When I was reading your description I thought what can he possibly do with a hot dog! Lol nice editing! Wasn't it Ansel Adams who said you don't take a picture you create one.

Amazing. Something more for me to try.

Did the subject know where the original picture was taken? The moods are so vastly different.

It appears the original was 24Mp and the final is about 4Mp but the cropped image is only about 10% of the original. Did you enlarge the crop (and how) to get the final.
