I received a digital photo (taken with an I-Pad) from a friend and in turn I posted it on Facebook which it posted upside down.

I cropped and re-sized the photo in PS-11 and Paintshop Pro then re-posted but the photo is still upside down on facebook.

Facebook does not have any answers and I googled it but with no solution to the problem. Has anyone had this experience of pics posted upside down and is there a solution? I turn to my fellow UGG comrades for answers. Thanks in advance for information.

I have noticed similar things with the iPad, especially when emailing the photos.

I am left-handed so I usually use the iPad upside down to what most people do. Although the iPad auto-rotates most apps, certain apps will not rotate- many apps for video and photography are this way. I try to remember to rotate the iPad especially when taking video with the iPad or photos to be emailed.

Or invert the photo 'before' you upload it to FB.

Your Operating System is using the Exif info to invert the photo so that you can view it right-side-up on your computer. Strip the EXIF/instructions in that photo then re-rotate it.

I had similar issue with my avatar on UHH. It was posting horizontally. So I re-oriented to horizontal in an editor, saved and re-posted. Of course I chose the wrong direction and first attempt was upside down :)

Can you try "save as" with different file name before uploading?

Yes, Linda, I tried that also.... for some reason, FB reads the original information.

All of the forums I read tell how to take the photo to avoid the up-side down post, but no one tells how to fix the photo once it has been taken.

The only other thing I know to do is to print the photo, scan it right side up and then post it... Thanks for all your help.

Does PSE have an option to strip the exif data on export?
I know that LR does.

I don't know, I should look at that, I will see how to strip the info, I haven't done that.

You need to check your right-side-up transmogrifier. It might be out of whack.

 should be
