Hi - I'm from Eastern Washington state . Haven't taken pics (35 mm) for several years. Just recently started trying a Nikon "Cool Pix" but too point and shoot for a lot of my favorite topics (landscapes. wildlife, umm... old grave yards ) so am going back to my old 35 mm Nikon, and so love this site !

Check into a 'bridge' camera like the Nikon P520..... you just might get "hooked" !!

Welcome - when you say eastern WA I can only think of Spokane and how much there is to photo in a 100 mi radius from there.

Another suggestion.... the old Nikon P100, an earlier version of the P520. It's zoom lens 24x optical, with 10mpix on the sensor, and it has fewer features than the 520, but it is generously endowed. It comes with a 6-month warranty from KEH.com (the seller on Amazon.com), a battery and charger. Used, it is $149. Mine came in a box from Nikon as refurbished but no Nikon warranty, which is usually only 90 days. The camera I got looks new, and also shipped with a carrying strap and two manuals (a start-up and the 32-page standard). Check it out on Amazon.com. Good luck and welcome.
