I am looking at all the 1Ds. I saw a 1D mark ll for a really great price but cannot find out any info. on the Canon site. Do any of you have this camera and what are your thoughts about buying a used one from some one reputable?
Thanks
The 1D Mark II is a high end professional camera. It will do anything you want except shoot video. It is great for sports and wildlife photography and just about anything else you can think of. Be that as it may, my grandson is out of high school and I no longer shoot wildlife, so I am considering selling my Mark II for 2500.00. If interested drop me an email at billfranklin@gmail.com.
I have had a Mark II for several years. i love the camera does great action shots as well as still life and landscape. Feel free to contact me.

If you want to find out about 1d mark 2 go to dpreview.com
click on database
click on canon
go toward bottom of page to see mark II
it will be below mark II N
this camera was announced in 2004. don't believe it to be worth 2500 unless it had no shutter clicks. But that is just my opinion

One major difference between the 1Ds and 1D is that the 1Ds has a full-sized sensor while the 1D has a cropped sensor (1.3 factor). The 1Ds has 16.6 MP while the 1D has only 8MP. Otherwise, I believe the cameras are similar in build quality. You can find a used 1D for about $600-900. I would be cautious buying a used one though since the 1D was used by many professionals for its rapid firing sequence at that time (8 frames/sec) - meaning its shutter could be approaching end-of-life.
