I love my 35mm 1.8, but you can't really call it wide on the 3200. It would act like a 52mm lens.

35 mm is approximately "normal" for that camera. For a full frame camera like the D600 a 35 mm lens would be a relatively wide lens because the sensor is bigger. One lens that seems popular is the Tokina 11-16 2.8. I have a Sigma 10-20 and it is pretty good, but would have preferred the faster aperture of the Tokina.

What lens came with your D3200? The kits tend to have the 18-55mm which is a nice lens in DX format with VR and is pretty wide at 18mm, much more than the 35mm.

Might I suggest the Nikon 10-24mm f/3.5-4.5G ED-IF AF-S DX.
The lens is designed for a DX camera, such as yours.

So, shuttrpirate
Do you want a wide angle lens or something longer?
The 50 is not wide angle either.

If you are sure a 50 is what you want, get the Nikon 50mm 1.8 G.
Here is a refurbished one:

It will fully work with your camera but just know that it has the angle of view of a short telephoto with yours.
The faster more expensive f/1.4 version is supposed to be a bit sharper in the corners, but with your camera, you won't be using that area so why pay for it?

The 35mm is what is considered a standard lens on your camera working like a 50mm on a full frame camera. The 50mm is effectively a telephoto of 75mm.

The 18-55 provides a nice wide angle view. If you want more quality and spread at higher price the 10-24 can't be beat. But if can't or won't afford one you can always take two-shot panoramas to match the width.
