A Butterfly Story...

The only time I saw her, she was sipping nectar from a purple coneflower in the butterfly garden. She didn't seem to mind that I was photographing her. After her thirst was quenched, she flew to the dill patch which was planted only a short distance from the coneflowers. Days passed...
Then, one day while working in the garden, and much to my surprise, I spotted two chubby caterpillars.
They were beautiful! Her offspring, more than likely...
Thinking other critters in the garden might mistake them for a yummy treat, I took them inside to keep them safe. This is what happened next...
WOW!
...a beautiful girl
...and a handsome boy, both masterpieces!

Thanks you Bret. I just finished posting the end results. The male eclosed yesterday and the female just a few hours ago. It is sprinkling here so I haven't turned her loose yet. Hopefully the weather will clear off soon. She is outside in a 10 x 10 screenhouse where she is safe and can fly around. Thanks for looking and also the nice comment. Jan
