Many camera stores have knowledgeable personnel who ARE MORE THAN HAPPY TO HELP YOU...selling equipment is their business. They will most likely want a happy customer so they will work with you to get what you need. Renting also helps so that you can get a feel of the equipment and make a decision based on your shooting needs.

I just started a photography course with NYIP and they told me to get a canon t3i if I wanted canon. I already had a t3i so I guess I'm set. My wife paid for the course and deemed it my Christmas present. And away I go! Any thoughts, love to hear from any one.

I was a professional photographer and used mainly a Nikon 'something' Photomic _ the one that comes all apart in pieces - and a Nikkor 105mm 1.25 but shot mainly for myself as I moved around so often. Very serious about it.
One thing is very confusing to me and that I liked a 'fixed' lens and shot mainly slides/transparencies and a fixed lens was known to be clearer
Digital is another language and everything so tiny
