Yes a mosquito zapper - I have 2 of them and also got paid to photograph it for a magazine article

How does a person end up doing product photography? I never heard of it even though I certainly have seen lots of photographed products.

As a freelance writer / journalist / photographer I get requests from numerous magazines for "filler" pieces and advertorials, with photos. Writing since 1974 it took many years to get to the point where editors call me with assignments. Pick a magazine, study their methods, find a new product that fits into their topic line, photograph it and write a shory blurb and submit it.
For example, take a gardening magazine, find a new product and write an ad for it.
