I was looking for something to buy to add to a smartphone case to avoid shipping charges from Amazon and came across this book, which I bought, "Creating HDR Photos...", by Harold Davis http://www.amazon.com/Creating-HDR-Photos-Complete-Photography/dp/0823085864/ref=pd_rhf_ee_p_img_1 Anyone who has this book, please register your honest thoughts. Thank you.

This is my favorite book on HDR. I have read 4 others, and bought 2, but this is my favorite. I like the way Harold Davis explains and illustrates. He does not go for the over-the-top HDR that some prefer and he tends to use it on the same subjects I do. I like the more natural version. He is also the only one I've read that explains how to make an HDR out of one single photo. Some scenes will not allow bracketing well (stuff is moving), and it was great to learn a technique to deal with it.

Thank for your input. There are sooooo many choices out there. I was also thinking about getting an Ansel Adams book (he's really the only photographer I recognize, however my community college has a course on photographic history as part of a degree program)

I have the book and found it to be very helpful. He explains things in a clear and concise manner and covers a lot of information.

I dont know anything about the book. But about a mounth ago a guy stoped in front of my house with his flashers on. We have a very narrow road here in the country. He took out his camera on a tripod. He ask me if he could take some photos in my yard. I told him ok many people take photos of my yard. But hes the first one that asked. Thats when he told me he mostly takes HDR photos. I told him about our Ugly Hedghog. Dont know if he ever checkes us out or not. He gave me his card. And I checked out his web site. If anyone is intersted Ill post his card with his website.
