I shoot RAW and save it as imported along with the conversion (jpeg). Only resize and then only sometimes for exporting to email or for print. ;)

Save the original image as taken, plus save the edited version full size.

Sorry I posted in a hurry. My question is why save the edited version full size?

So you don't have to re-edit the original for future sales or use.

In PSE 11, when saving a tif to jpg, I find that choosing quality 9 or 10 as opposed to the maximum of 12 allows me to offer prints as large as 20 x 30. It also saves approx 2 mb per image of storage space. I know storage is cheap, but my thought is why should I use more than I need. Am I wrong to do this? Is there something I'm missing about this issue?

I agree with MT here. Storage is cheap, so I save any edited versions plus I save the original at 100% quality for possible future reedits, e.g. diferent crop, etc. One feature of Picasa I like is that by default any time you edit and save, the original is stored in a subfolder.

I do the same, except, I save TWO copies of the original raw files at 100% quality on 2 different external hard drives. Maybe I wasn't clear. My questions is:
Why save the edited jpg version at 100% quality?

No, the REAL question is 'Why NOT?'

Multi-Terrabyte external drives are under $200.
Why skimp on file size/quality?

To add to 'save as is' when I edit or modify a photo as you do with 'sharpen' 'size' 'contrast' etc etc I save the modified file as
Modified = DSC1511m.jpg
Compressed = DSC1511c.jpg
Sized for email = DSC1511s.jpg

Storaqe is cheap, screwing with an original isn't.
