downloading photos from camera to storage device

Is there a system (I have the t3i) of downloading photos directly from the card (or camera) to a storage device such as a flash drive. I ask this as an alternative to purchasing more cards or carrying a laptop with me. I frequently travel by motorcycle and space is at a premium.

Take a look at this link http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/buy/Stand-Alone-Data-Storage/ci/3369/N/4287966885 to see various devices to off-load your photo card to another device. Arnold

Ken,

I've had the same issue, and it's hard to beat the price and compactness of the SD cards. Even the 8Gb Sandisk Extreme Pro (the best, in my opinion) is now priced at $26.00. So, if you buy 4 of them for roughly $100.00, I doubt any other solution will be this inexpensive and compact.

I appreciate both the responses - now just to look at finances

You're going to be getting roughly 1000 pics on each 8Gb card. A few of these is all you should need. I buy Promaster cards because they are guaranteed for life---I realize that does no good if you have lost photos but has never happened. I think this is your best bet moneywise and easy to carry.............

There is nothing more portable than an SD card or even a Compact Flash Card. A 16GB SD card is cheap. you could carry a half dozen of them if need be. Then you could leave the computer home and just offload the pics when you return.

As stated early, cards are cheap and take up next to no space. Was there a particular reason your were looking for an alternative?
