Here I was editing photos (or deleting them) and participating in the forum between edits when I came across this picture of 42nd Street between 7th & 8th Avenue's.
It's colorful, loud, but also very busy. The eyes have no place to rest, no focal point, but dart from one place to another, the billboards, the lights, the small shapes of people, the yellow cab speeding by. But.........that's exactly what New York City is, busy, noisy, loud and disorienting. So why not post it and see what you all think?
C&C desired and requested, let me have two full barrels if you wish, this photo may deserve it. :-D
Settings were: ISO 640, 48mm, f/4.8, 1/80 second
I like it. The absence of a single point of interest clearly reflects the busy nature of the city.

I parked my eyes and got a $205.00 fine.... KEEP BREAKING THE RULES..... they are not laws that someone will come around and lock you up for breaking
And if you get results like this then we should all do it... By the way it is a very well technically taken shot aswell. love how busy it is the faces in / through glass ...

I don't entirely agree with your assessment of the picture. I happen to think it's a wonderful street scene. I don't want my eye to rest here. I want it to explore and that it does. The eye is drawn to the D&B sign which is in the perfect place. Then it starts to roam to Hilton Famous Daves and then to other things to discover. Now I'm starting to search for other elements and that's what you're after. The IQ in the image is also very good so in all you have a very pleasing photograph here.
Bmac,
Think this works very nicely. You are correct, this is the way New York is.

I love it! Nicely done...and, coming from my quiet little community it's fun to see the colorful and busy city! I think you did a great job!

Nice job, BMAC! The colors are outstanding.
I think the photo itself is well done, good exposure, focus, etc. The complete image is a character study of N.Y. City. At least that is the way I saw it.

Its a great shot and I love breaking the so called rules... stepping outside the box often works wonders. I don't call them rules I call them suggested approaches..... yep, love the photo.

This image has "skill" written all over it.
There will be a lot of guffaws and boos if some one wants to be negative.

Thank you. I was once giving a tour for a lass from a small town in Indiana and her boyfriend who was raised in Miami. He was fine in the city but she actually got ill from all the excitement and we had to leave early. She rebounded the next day though. 8-)
