There was a thread about this just the other day and I can't find it. I don't know anything about detaching a lens but I think it would help if you told us the brand of each. Then just be patient and someone will tell you how to do it :D

If nothing else we have a camera repairman on the forum, Rick Riggins. He works out of his house and keeps his over head down. I've had some work done by him and very satisfied and so have several other members. He has a website, I'd give him a call and see what he has to say. Here's a link

Good luck. Lets us know how things turn out

First a cannon is a weapon of war, a Canon is a camera.

second, it sounds as if something has perhaps broken in the release mechanism. Usually this happens when the device is abused or used to detach without the button being fully depressed... get what I mean?

If that's not the case and the camera is under 1-year old, Canon will fix it under warranty. If it's over a year it's your dime... I'd expect at least $150 to $200.

Sounds like any of the following, lens not inserted completely correct and is off slightLy.battery bad contacts not working, but release button is more than likely the problem.work the release button and gently try to turn lens.slow and easy so as not to damage lens mount or track on lens.
