I was looking to do a photography workshop in the Zion Utah area this Fall. Never been anywhere near there and looking for local knowledge on best sites as well getting some quality instruction. There are several photographers with nice looking websites with favorable testimonials, but obviously they are not going to print the bad reviews. Just interested if anyone has done a workshop with someone in Zion that you liked and felt it worthwhile. Many Thx.

Zion is Awesome. I've been there a couple of times and it never disappoints. I've never taken a photo tour there though.
If your physically able, be sure to hike the "Zion Narrows". Its not difficult but the river is the trail. You'll be walking in the water most of the time. Water shoes & dry suits can be rented from a couple of businesses in town.
http://www.zionadventures.com/ A more demanding hike is the "Subway" on North Creek. Its a big day but well worth the effort to get there. Don't try to keep your feet dry. Rent some water shoes and get right into the creek and hike in.
If your fortunate enough to have a rainy day, be sure to go to the Emerald Pools as the falls will be better following some rain.
Be sure to bring a tripod.
The bridge over the Virgin River has a great view of "The Watchman" in the evening. It gets crowded with photographers so get there early to claim a spot.
There is a great sunrise shot of the "Towers of the Virgin" behind the museum.
This is a great book to have.

Willy, thanks for the great insights. PS, if there is such a rule on posting photos, I would'nt mind in the least. PSS, love the Melville quote.

Those are spectacularly crafted shots. Thank you for sharing.
Not just grabbing the word "spectacular" but they are amazing. You did a wonderful job on all of them and they are breath-takingly good.
Willy, Those are some great shots of some of Zion's more spectacular places. Zion is a magical place.

Those are awesome photos - I'm packing my bags!
Zion is an awesome place to shoot photos. It's hard to take a bad photo. The park offers photo workshops and seminars. I have never had to opportunity to attend, but I would check it out.

If you have the time don't forget Bryce. Not too far away and more than worth the time even if you have to extend your trip a day or two.
