:-D new thread idea. post photos of things that were common but now are rare.Like in this case a TV antena. For the education of the youngins, before cable when there was only a choice of maybe 10 channels including pbs and independents, in order to get tv recepition you had to have one of these on a roof. It always seemed to breakdown right in the middle of an important football game. other things eligable for this thread include the huge origional home sattelite dishes, full service gas stations, photomat booths etc.

You don't see these anymore,(maybe.)
This one is in London, England, 2010.
I don't think we ever had these? But I remember them in England.

I was in Little Rock this morning and actually saw a naked phone box like this, out of curiosity I picked it up and it was actually working.
I was trying to find the Old Mill in North Little Rock but it was so cold I quit trying and went to have Fish and Chips in the best "Chippy" outside of England.

that is such a beautifal looking camera. The one thing I hate about today is their seems to be little design just for style anymore. 57 chevy belair versues any jelly bean car of today. Nikon metal manual focus lenses, vs the plastic stuff of today. even handguns a walther ppk is a thing of beauty, a glock is functional and plain at best. a dc-3 is still 70 years later a gourgeous airplane.
Your turning back the clock here old chap. The first plane I ever went in was an old wartime DC3 that had been converted to a passenger aircraft and it had old London bus seats and no seatbelts. We flew from Gatwick to Tarbres in the French Pyrenees. It was some hairy flight!

Now with digital, I'm getting 17 with my antenna that is on the roof (NBC has 2, CBS has 3, ABC has 3, PBS has 3, some religious network has one, FOX has 2, and ION has 3). I ditched "the dish" and the high prices and went "free over the air" because we really didn't watch that much TV.
I can also get the other shows that I used to DVR with other free solutions like HULU, but I have noticed I'm doing more Google+ Hangouts than TV watching.
So, with our Cell phones being our only phones (costs $59 / month and we can go anywhere as use them) and our cable Internet ($29.95 / month) we dropped to under $100 per month vs the "Full Package Deal" (Land Line phone[stuck at the house to use], DSL, and Dish ~ $179) and couldn't be happier.
