I love aerial photos! Shooting out an airplane window or from the top of a really tall building or mountain give a unique perspective and covers a lot of territory.

I'm betting that there are plenty of aerial photos out there in Hedgehog-land and I would like it if you would share them here.

The photos don't have to be shot from an airplane or helicopter (but they can be), but they do need to be shot from 'on high' somewhere.

Here's a few from me to start the ball rolling, all taken from a commercial airliner.

Here are some of mine from our trip to Kenya...
The third one is not from the air, it's from Glacier Point in Yosemite Natl Park. It's probably several hundred feet up from the ground, and you stand right at the edge...that photo was taken at 200mm, no cropping, so it's pretty far up.

Here are some aerials from a trip to the Alaska tundra in September. Saw no sign of human existence for 4 days.

Millismote, GWMH, rpinnell, and PNagy; Those are some wonderful aerials, I knew there were some folks out there who like to shoot from a high perspective.

When others see my airplane window shots they usually comment, "My window pics never come out like that." I reply, "I roll down the window and grab a shot real quick and then roll the window back up before the flight attendant catches me." Then I wait for 3-5 seconds to see if they get the joke ;-).

Here's a couple more from me. A refinery somewhere near Houston TX; looks like a few of those big tanks are missing tops.

The TX Medical Center, the largest collection of medically related buildings in one place in the world because, "Everything's bigger in TX." ;-)

Johnny, That's a great example of including a bit of the plane in the photo, without degrading the image. I figured that shot was taken from a plane and the slice of engine just confirms it. Besides I'd hate to lose the interesting river in front of the engine if you cropped the engine out.

It is the same concept as including people in nature shots, it helps give size perspective and most of the time makes the photo more interesting, in my opinion.

Keep posting,

Eric
