This is some very nice work...having said that...I often think when seeing this type of stuff...why not just go buy one and let the Chinese slave labor do the work...I would suspect you could buy something close for about what you have in the materials...not to mention your time. Of course there are those who just like to tinker and more power to them. A good copy stand, especially with a magnetic board is a very, very useful item. We had a polaroid copy camera in the Navy and you could load regular film holders in it...Wouldn't mind finding one in good shape now if you could modify it to hold a modern digital camera.

We definitely have a "techy" in the house. I'll have to remember that when I need something!!

Great job, I have one made by an old photographer that had been a Kodak Judge about 50 years ago. It still works great. I can copy up to about 60 x 40 inch pictures.

That copy stand is great. I made on from an old darkroom enlarger. I took the enlarger off the stand and mounted my old film camera on the stand. I rigged some lights separately. This was before digital.

Plain and simple... I love many of the "home made" gadgets!

*I still think the golf ball bearing you showed us on another thread, is a great idea!

(While covering a wedding preformed at a golf club, I found a ball partially buried, 3/4 blackened from age, and just had to pick it up! After sanding off the black portion, it looked real good. You also mentioned sanding them for better gripping. It works good too! LoL)

Thank you for the kind words for this and other posts plus for your great comments. While not a trebuchet, here's a photo of a homemade catapult.

I love your Nikon Launcher!

Hey Mudshark, some people just enjoy inventing. Why buy from China when we have our own people that enjoy making their own? Buy American when ever you can!!

I think you misunderstood my intentions...I was making a tongue-in-cheek remark concerning our little communist brothers and sisters in China...and by the way, you will, unfortunately waste a great deal of time and gas looking for an American made copy stand or much of anything else.
I only wish I had both the time and the skill level to build "stuff" the likes of this copy stand.
I have found that professionally it is often better to just bend over and go buy something, use it, make the money and move on. As opposed to trying to "jerry-rig" something...with the often resulting mess. I can't afford to waste my clients time and money messing around.
You are correct in that if we can buy American and beyond that locally, we should certainly do so...ALWAYS. But that is more often than not...impossible. American inventiveness, creativity and the "CAN DO" spirit are the backbone of our civilization. Unfortunately, we are suffering national scoliosis...caused by the people (liberals, lawyers, union thugs) who thought it would be just dandy to move our manufacturing base off shore to India, China, Mexico, etc., etc.
Thank God for tinker people and dreamers.
I fear the day is soon coming when we will be forced to once again make our own stuff...................to survive...

Thank You Mudshark. Sorry I misunderstood. I understand and agree with you completely! My husband was a fixer-upper. Came up with great ideas. I do not have that instinct and do miss his handy work.
