lightroom 5 filing help

Does anyone know how to re-arrange ( put in proper chronological order) files that for various reasons- not paying attention, different peripherals- are now in need of re-sorting. Adobe, manuals,NAAP,- don't seem to address this. And it's easy to misfile. Dragging the files seems to only create sub -folders.
There has to be a simple solution that I am missing.
Thanks for any help.

If you are trying to sort the individual photo files within a folder then the sort function is what you need. It can be found under the "View" menu at the top of the page. It allows you to sort by various criteria including capture time, time added, file name/number etc. and can be done in ascending or descending order. If that is not what you are looking for, contact me by PM with more info and I will try to help you.

I hardly ever do anything with folders in Lightroom. I let Lightroom take care of that for me.

I use keywords and collections to keep things straight. In collections you can sort the order manually. Not so in folders.
