Still learning about my Canon sx40 and came across CHDK. Not sure what it does or how to get it on my camera(?). Any suggestions? :?

I was interested for the "raw" saving and remote release, but got the SX50 instead that has those options built-in!! I never tried CHDK on my SX40 as it looked too complicated for me to set up.

Greatest thing since sex and lollipops. Learn to use CHDK and you will never look back. You will not believe what is in your SX 40 that Canon never turned on. I have used it on my S5IS for years.

Here is a quote from Wiki with the basics:
<The CHDK (Canon Hacker Development Kit) software makes extra settings of a DSLR available on Canon's point-and-shoot cameras.
Good places to read about digital cameras are Dpreview (offers lots of camera reviews) or the Canon Forum, a website used by people who love to talk about Canon cameras.
Using CHDKEdit
CHDK only works with Canon point-and-shoot digital cameras. CHDK does not work with cameras from other manufacturers, nor with Canon's digital SLR range
A different version of CHDK is needed for each Canon camera model. The version of CHDK for the Canon G9 camera does not work with the Canon SX200 IS camera. Volunteer computer programmers adapt CHDK for each new Canon camera. The adaption takes some time, so CHDK might not be immediately available for a new Canon camera model.>
And here is the Wiki page showing exactly which cameras can use CHDK in its' present form. The cameras are listed down the right side of the page. The Canon SX40HS is one of them. Not sure if your SX40 is an HS model or not.
