wide angle and telephoto lenses. Things to see: Bridge of Lions, The Fort (Castello de San Marcos), Flagler College, the Alligator Farm, many historic buildings scattered throughout the town, Light House, municipal marina, Ripley's Believe it or not, the inlet (passing or moored boats), various tours on and off the water, local winery, Lightner Museum, Fort Matanzas. Many different restaurants and bars. Good nightlife.
You will find plenty of things to see and do. The Alligator Farm has a rookery so you have opportunities to shoot birds as well as reptiles.
ghost walk at night, horse drawn buggy ride, cemeteries, alligator farm with rookery to name a few
There are some beautiful church's there as well. Lot's of locals to get a photo of. Bring extra batteries. Have fun!
This might not fit your quick overnight trip but there is another little fort just south of St. Augustine that claims to be the oldest remaining building in the U.S. The National Park Service takes you over to it on a five minute free boat ride.
I prefer places like it to cities. St. Augustine teed me off with wanting me to pay to park. Being from Idaho I'm not into that.
If you are a senior the $10 federal senior pass will get you in to both for free. I go to the local forest service office for it. I don't know if you'll be able to buy it on entry.

Parking is a problem unless you are staying at a hotel. When I had my sail boat, I moored it at the municipal marina and most places were within easy walking or taxi distance.
Well I'm here, all of your advice was great, I will post a few shots when I get home, thank you all very much, well worth the trip, although its towns like this I'm glad I have a CCP, they seem to have quite a few shady characters, Joe
