Hello everybody - Newbie with a question too.

I'm a Newbe too and first post of hopefully many more to come. I shot with Pentax for many, many years with my last Pentax being a SF1. THEN along came the "digital" age and my special gal bought me a Cannon P&S. After months of her threatening me with everything under the sun (just kidding my Wife IS MY BEST FRIEND) I finally started shooting with it and the best part I liked was being able to shoot short video clips.

That led me into producing Slide Show/DVD Movies via Microsoft's "Movie Maker" Program. I REALLY got into that as well. Fast Forward 5 years and my Cannon went into the "drink" while on a canoe trip. Actually left it in the sun for 2 days and with the exception of one option...it dried out and I was able to use it another year and a half; HOWEVER...it finally failed from old age and I'm sure water logging.

I had a number of nice lenses with my SF1 so I was moving towards a K-r DSLR. Somehow I wound-up with a Cannon Rebel T3i DSLR....BTW ANY SUGGESTIONS ON WHERE BEST TO TRY TO SELL-OFF MY PENTAX SF1 AND LENSES???

I JUST received the T3i yesterday along with a 18mm-55mm lens and a 55mm-250mm lens. I pulled the Owner's manual out of the box and started to read the 300+ pages. I might have to go back to school to finish it off ;-) ;-) And I can't wait to start shooting and experimenting with it!

Anyway....finally...my question:
My Dell Inspiron Lap Top is of 2007 "vintage". It is not Blue Ray/High Def. Does anyone know...IF I shoot Pix/Videos on a SDHC Card if I will encounter any downloading problems and if so is there anything I should anticipate and/or can do settings-wise to to handle any issues?

I'm "assuming" that like a Blue Ray Player it will "read" the card but it just won't be able to play at high-def.

After the camera purchase...I just can NOT afford to ALSO replace my computer in the same year. IF worse comes to worse I could use the Special Gal's Computer BUT I'd rather not.

SO SORRY I got "wordy" here...LOOKING FORWARD TO LOTS OF VISITS!

Must Fish Joe

Will you plug the camera into the USB port? If so, then you probably won't run into problems...however, if you have a card reader, it may not read the SDHC chip (my PC didn't); however, for $10-$30, you can buy a USB card reader and it works great! Hope this helps you! :-D

CARD READER??? DUH!
SURE WHY NOT! I should have thought of that! Thanks so much for jarring some of the conwebs loose in me head ;-)
