Hi, I got CR2 files from a friend. I cannot find good software to read CR2, only find one to view the thumbnail but can not open the files. Could you tell me the some software viewers to download for either windows 7 or windows XP or both and a one to transfer CR2 to JPEG? Thanks.

Googles Picasa support the raw format CR2 and it's free.

It's very annoying when that happens. There are too many obscure formats, but there is usually a way to open them.

I think CR2 may be the Canon format. You may want to download, Canon Photo Professional, from the Canon website, then import your CR2 files into the program.

Ah, that's right - Canon RAW (CR).

Thank you, traveler90712. I have Picasa2 which is free but only show CR2 as totally black photos. Do I need high version of Picasa or something else?

Picasa is up to version 3, but if that will do it.....sorry, I'm a Nikon user.

That would be a dirty trick if your friend sent you totally black images. :D

Thank you so much, traveler90712. picasa3 works! I remember years ago, I had picasa3 but after months usage it asked for fee for continue usage. That's why I've switched back to picasa2.

I use Picasa and have never been asked for any fee. My PaintShopPro x4 also reads those files nicely.

That's a good news. Now I'm using Picasa3 again.

Don't you have IRFAN on your computer, works fine on CANON Raw, just tested it,

Download Digital Photo Professional from Canon.
