Macro vs. telephoto
Hi,
What is the difference - if any- between a "Macro" and a "telephoto" lense?
John
Macro is for close-ups, telephotos are for making distance object appear closer. I most likely will not get this entirealy correct and there is in fact some dispute - but in general; A 55mm lens duplicates nearly as the human eye sees as is usually classified as a normal lens. A lens that can focus - maybe down to mere inches would be a maro. A telephoto may be only capable of focusing down to a couple of feet although there are add ons such to allow a much closer focus. In general the shorter the lens [macro] the closer one can focus. Besides several other options to add in macro photography be aware that most cameras also have a program mode for macro often marked by a flower icon. I hope I did not confuse you further.

Macro or close up
They are not the same thing. Google macro lens and numerous explanations will be made available.
