Is this more money wasted? What do you think?

Just a drop in the bucket as far as these politicians are concerned. Strange how a few people can influence these actions. I guess it's a case of 'Who you know' as always. How many days of White House tours are paying for this?
What do you think?

The controversial "drum major" inscription on the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial on the National Mall in Washington will be removed rather than replaced under a plan announced Tuesday by federal officials.
The quote in question -- one of more than a dozen on the site -- is inscribed on one side of the stone. The abbreviated and paraphrased version of the line sparked controversy in 2011 when acclaimed poet and author Maya Angelou said it made the civil rights leader appear to be arrogant.
The line reads: "I was a drum major for justice, peace and righteousness."
In fact, King's original words, from a 1968 sermon at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta, were: "If you want to say that I was a drum major, say that I was a drum major for justice. Say that I was a drum major for peace. I was a drum major for righteousness. And all of the other shallow things will not matter."

The makeover will cost between $700,000 and $900,000.

Maybe he was a little arrogant. So what. Did Maya want it to say? "I was a drum major for Texas A&M University"?

Politicians are never at a loss for ways to waste taxpayer money. If some group objects to the abbreviated version of the quote, perhaps they should start a fund raising campaign to change it instead of asking taxpayers to foot the bill.

Exactly! They could have gotten some Sacrete for $5 and filled in the words "I was".

You gonna take the QE2 around the world for 2 years or what?
I could get people for less. No green cards but I won't tell if you don't. One guy I know has buck teeth. He would be perfect for the job. Good at layin' Linoleum......and her sister Laminate. I axed him, "Look at you, Bruce. You've got buck teeth". He said, "The hell I do. These beauties cost me five bucks". Ouch.

I've could have fixed the problem for a $1.1198. Turn the statue so that side is down; then when taking pictures of it, you can use the 90 degree turn ability on the PP, or if having a real print made, turn the picture in your hand so he is up. . WaLAAA! problem fixed.

The Memorial Fund probably came from taxpayers(?) donating their welfare checks.

Great idea.! Then engrave on the stone "Rest in peace, Martin. We love you". The engraving doesn't look that deep. I'm sure they could grind the lettering off smoothly and hire some tombstone engraver for $400 to re- engrave it. Oh well, maybe those diamond tipped drills cost $100,000 each from De Beers. No one's going to DC anyway because you can't get into the White House unless you are a billionaire. Peace, Ray.
