While Canon is busy buying and indiscriminately applying white paint and putting silk patches onto sow's ears to pass them off as purses, Nikon has quietly gone and built the best DSLR ever.....

The D800e.

Think I might have to get me one.

Any lovers of the starchy, tuberous crop from the perennial Solanum tuberosum out there with me on this?

Rob.

Winter, I tried to bake a Nikon once. It gave a belly ache that lasted till I got a proper potato to bake.
No amount of chives or sour cream helped.
Long live the T90!!

Did you see someone baked a D3 after freezing it in solid ice? Went right on clickin'. Baked my sow's purse once, all it did was sooty my sixpence. Rob.

I dunno, Rob. That Canon 5D Mark III sure looks nice. Of course, they're both second-stringers to a Leica M9P.

Get outta here Mogul...Seven and a half large for what looks like a glorified "50's point and shoot? It's not even festooned with lots of fancy buttons and knobs to so bamboozle UHHers that they come to this forum and become even more bamboozled. There's no built in flash, you have to take a guess at what you are aiming at in that peephole in the back and for that exorbitant price you don't even get a lens!
At least a D3 on a long leash has the heft to fend off big guys trying to mug ya!

Don't need it with that old Exacta on the end of a monopod. Seven at one blow!

Winter, when are ya gonna learn. REAL cameras, at least not the ones the pros use, have a pop-up. I recall the fancier Instamatics had a pop-up. I don't think the pros used those either, cause they had a pop-up.
And here, on this side of the pond, a D3, is a small motorized device used to push dirt around. And the color is not so unlike your car, but better looking. Happy Dozing. SS

I'd like to put my two cents in to this discussion. I have a D700 and love it and have been watching the D800 since before it came out and still hesitate to spend $3000.00 on it because I don't know if it will be that much better than my D700. Just for the record have had & shot Canon just prefer Nikon.
