I have a Nikon d7000 which I bought 18 months ago. It has about 19000 clicks on the shutter. My question is: when is it time to replace or get another body?
When you feel you can no longer do with this camera what you want to do. Or when you think this camera doesn't have enough bells and whistles.
As to the longevity of the camera, in several places I've read that the shutter should be good for around 100,000 click - that means 81,000 more to go - or well over 4 years.

A backup camera is always a good thing to have but a required replacement is years away. The D7K is said to get at least 150,000 shutter activations. So doing the math................ if you do 1K clicks per month, it should last 12 1/2 years. Happy shooting.

It is time when you decide it is or when your camera stops working, which ever comes first
And if 12.5 years isn't enough time, you can send it and get it an overhaul and start all over again. Now what you tell the other half of the family, is your business, but as far as were concerned keep on clicking.

Goodness gracious. You would not be inferring that the OP could use this as an excuse to purchase more photographic equipment.........would you? 😉😉

As others have already pointed out, having 19,000 clicks on your D 7000 is the very least of your worries; Also....those "good for" so many clicks figures.......are basically, "worst case" estimates; you can probably get another 50K AFTER the advertised 100 or 150 K clicks; other than that........
I'm not telling you that you shouldn't buy a new camera, but I AM saying, you should have a very good reason to; if your pictures are not as "good" as you'd like ? learn more, improve your skill, learn more ABOUT your camera; I can almost guarantee you that you have not yet mastered that camera; (I know people who have, and they get some awesome pictures with the D 7000 !

DC, your camera won't probably ever wear out. Some go for more than 500,000 clicks. By that time, your head will look the same, but your eye brows will be white.
So if you feel you want a new camera, just get it. Most of us aren't driving our first car either.
