I bought Nikon D5100, I am learning a lot about it with the manual and book by David Busch. I am having a problem figuring out how to use the ViewNX 2 program and trying to set it to Bracket 3 shots, I only get 2 even after setting it for 3. I have also tried to use the continuos shooting mode but only get 2 shots when I hold down on the shutter button. I have searched both the manual and the Book I bought and can't seem to get either to perform as advertised. Your help will be appreciated as usual.
Thanks
Dave
I hope you get some replies here. I'm getting a D5100 also and I'll be watching this thread so I can steal some info.
Good luck, and have fun with your new camera!
I have seen that this was a good choice, there are just so many features, it is over whelming. Good Luck with yours, I'm think you will be pleased.

OK, I just checked in the manual. BTW, it's on page 88.
In Menu go to Custom Setting Menu (little pencil)--> e Bracketing/Flash -->e2 Auto Bracketing Set
Select AE, WB, or ADL bracketing. NOTE: You can't use WB bracketing if you are shootin in RAW or RAW + Jpeg.
Hi,
I have a relatively new D5100 and have done the same training and practiced a fair bit so am happy to help if I can. It is a marvelously complex machine if you take advantage of its many features. It is also amazingly elegant in that you can set it on auto and take great pictures out of the box.
I am a bit confused by your question as the View NX2 software has nothing to do with taking the bracketing shots. Can you clarify your question?
If you use the in-camera HDR feature it only takes two shots and does the HDR processing in the camera so you get only the resulting shot. So far I have not been impressed by it and prefer the Active D-lighting.
I have had success with the bracketing. You need to make sure you take all of the shots for it to work. If you have the shutter set on single and bracketing set for three shots you need to work the button three times. You can set the release to multiple and it will take all three.
I have experimented with five-shot HDR by taking two groups of three; one with EV 2 and one with EV1, and then discarding the middle shot. That works much better than my success with the in-camera HDR.
Did either of my suggestions get close to your questions?

Larry Leach
