I use a Nikon D90. I can use the Nikon ML L3 remote device to trigger the shutter from the front but am looking for a trigger that I can use from all angles. Lots of stuff on line, but I could use some practical, "been there, done that" advice from the Hogs.

A lot of radio flash triggers can be used for camera remotes as well.
I have two sets of these:

Just tested it on my D300 and it works fine.

Might look into one of these if price is a concern:

I recently bought a Vivitar remote shutter release for $24.95 from Adorama to use with an older Pentax camera. The release has adapters for use with a variety of cameras including the D90. It worked fine with my Pentax. My main equipment is now Nikon and I have a different remote with more options but the version I have uses the 10 pin connector. If you want simple, I think the Vivitar would work fine for you.

I like pocket wizards. I have 4 of them and use them everywhere. Radio triggers (regardless of the brand) are the way to go. My units have a range of at least 1000 feet (company says 1600 feet but I don't quite find that to be the case). Line of sight triggers work well inside for short distances but you cant shoot behind walls or barriers like you can with radio triggers and outside the line of sight triggers are absolutely worthless.
