Anyone here familiar with the Tamron 90mm 2.8 DiSp A/M 1:1 marco lens? I'm thinking about getting this for my Sony A77. Opinions are welcome.

Go to this site and compare the Tamron with other similar lenses. You can also select the camera to see what difference it makes.

I have that lens in my rental inventory in a Canon mount, as well as the Canon 100mm F2.8 Macro. The Canon renters prefer the Tamron for sharpness and color, I have to agree based on the comparison images I have shot.

I have that lens & use it on my D7100. I used it for macro initially. I lost interest in macro, & now use it occasionally for 'ordinary' outdoor stuff, where it excels. It is razor sharp, even on f2.8-it's only downside is that it is a prime lens, rather then an ever popular zoom. I don't do portraits, but I believe it is a good portrait lens. :-)

Good to know! Thanks MT!
I recommended one for a Nikon user and it seems like a great alternative to the OEM lens he was looking at. He didn't need the VR (IS).

I use one on my Nikon D7000 and its a great lens for the money. I will go through some of my pics and post some taken with it.

There is two versions of this lens, a newer model about $100 more than the older version, some minor differences but to me not the difference in the money. Made some comparisons at the camera store and could not tell that much difference. The new model does have a different method of switching from Auto focus to Manual focus. Still no big thing.

Great lens, very sharp, have used it on Nikon D7000. Google "Mike Moats" a pro Macro shooter who shoots Tamron, for some examples of what that lens can do in the hands of someone who really knows Macro

Using it on my Nikon D7000. It is a very sharp lens, well made and highly recommended. You can use it on a full frame sensor as well.

I have the lens, and have always enjoyed using it. Here's a recently taken sample. This is from a Nikon D600.
