Hi! My name is Mary Ann and live in Fitchburg, Wisconsin. I take pictures to express my love of the things I photograph. My mother gave me a SLR camera when I graduated from college in 1978 which overwhelmed me. Thankfully my boyfriend knew how to use one and showed me how. I got my first digital camera (Fuji Finepix F10) in 2006 mostly to take pictures of cats for a rescue group I was volunteering with. I felt ready to move on to a DSLR (Canon Rebel Eos Xsi) in May of 2008. I've been taking some pictures for Maddie's Fund for 2 years now. I know I still have a lot to learn. I'm also wondering if it is time to upgrade but there seems to be so many more choices out there now that it is overwhelming!
Welcome! I am a newbie too! Seems like a great place to be so far!

Hello Mary Ann and welcome to UHH.
Welcome from another Wisconsinite! This is a great place to to learn and share. Great group of people!
Hello Mary and welcome to the hog.
I also have an XSi. Along with a 50d and a canon sx50.
Just my opinion but I'd suggest you invest your money on better
lenses first. The XSi is still a decent camera. And after getting used to the
lenses and what they can do,you can upgrade to a full frame or another
cropped frame Canon and use those lenses as long as you don't buy
EF lenses. Mike
Welcome. I am also new. Have enjoyed and learned so far. I love talking Photography so this seems to be the best place to be.

Hi Mary Ann, a big welcome to the hog. We all have lots to learn and i for one learn something new every day. Only you can decide if it is time to upgrade. Have you exhausted every aspect of your camera yet? There will always be a million choices out there. Be patient and it will come to you. In the meantime, post some of your pictures so we can see how you are doing.
Rich
Welcome and yes you will learn a lot from the people here. I like you love animals and I take my hat off to you for what you do. Now post some of your work so we can see what you have done.
