Hi all.
Anybody uses a K-30 and would like to share some tips and settings? I'm using it and enjoying. Where I am now the internet connection is too slow for uploading pictures without waiting for hours. As soon as possible I'll load some pics. I'm mostly a jpg shooter.

Thanks

I'm looking forward to your next post. I will be in the market for a dslr and have the K30 on my short list.

Tips and tricks? What does that mean? Tips, well do you know the relationship between ISO, shutter speet, aperture and light? Do you understand how to properly operate both camera and lens without being on full auto all the time?
Do you always use the view finder to frame your shots if your camera does live view? Do you know how to do time (long) exposures for night shots? Can you look at a scene and decide instantly whether or not you need a tripod, longer shutter speed, more ISO?

There's plenty more I could ask but if any of the answers above was no perhaps a photo class would help. There's no tricks to a dslr, just good, clean, photographer skill photography.

Good luck

I Know all of that and much more so I don't need a photo Class. What I was asking was something else so Your answer is of no help.

Well if you'd have mentioned that you're already ahead of the curve in dslr cameras perhaps I wouldn't have answered you that way.

So if you really are aware of all that what's with the "tricks" question?

What I mean is that, in my experience, every camera has its own way to o things. I'm thinking for example if it has a tendency of overexposing in some situations and things like that. Its only a few days that I am using it so that is what I'm thinking about 'tricks'.

I've had my k30 for a year. 1. I find I need to over expose by 1/3 or my pictures are dark. I shoot mostly jpeg. 2. There has been 3 software upgrades..The latest is 1.4. 3. I got the 18-135mm lens with mine and find it is very good. 4. I bought the Sigma 150-500 and have had excellent results with the K30 and it. 5. Occasionally the camera freezes(5-7) times..I found out if you take out the battery and put it back..the camera resets itself. Tech. had no real answer for this problem. I did not send it back. Have not had any troubles with 1.4 update. 6. I have a hard time getting the memory card to eject..I push it in and let it fly out onto a towel. very frustrating.. Hope this helps and if I can help in any other way..just ask. Just Jerry

Thanks. I am also a jpg shooter so I'm trying to find the best settings for sooc jpg. I have not shot enough to tell which are the best for me. One thing that fooled me was the lcd; when I reviewed the pics theyseemed underexposed so I gave a +0.3 but when I viewed them on my pc they were overexposed and highlights burned because I also turned shadow and highlight controls from auto to off. At least this on my one.
Thanks for your help and if I have other questione I'll ask.
I'm happy to read about the Sigma because I'm also planning to buy a long telephoto lens. Is it stabilized?
