Great portrait photographs and the flower is nice, I however would adjust the depth of field a bit more to capture the whole flower and still keep the background blurred, but is still a nice shot.

Thanks! God morning!! Blessed to see another morning, Richgin60. Thanks, sleepydrdr. Bruce thanks for the advice, I was using spot metering! Should I have used center or metric,I also used a tripod should have I gotten closer?

No for a depth of field you need to tighten the aperture a stop or two (example going from F4 to F5 or F8), make sure that your object is a reasonable distance from the background and with your aperture stopped down will give you coverage of the entire flower and an out of focus background. I have added two of mine just to give you an idea of what I mean.

Happy Sunday to you Jan. :())))
The young man In first photo is very handsome..love the way you captured him. He just makes me want to smile.
Love baby Leland, the way he has his hands positioned is so adorable.
And, I like your flower too...very pretty.

Those are great shots!!! Here is one I took with a good depth of field. I'm not sure why part of the flower is out of focus. I think I was trying to get the dark background but in doing so I lost focus on the flower!! It would be a great picture if I could how gotten the whole flower!! Thanks for helping me to see how I could have made it better, Bruce.

This is a good picture, if you have any post processing software you should be able to sharpen the flower and butterfly without to much trouble.
