Pentax 18-35 lens

I just purchased a Pentax 18-35 lens. Do I have to shoot at a particular f-stop or other setting to get the wide angle look? When loaded into ACD Pro 5 software the ends of the photo actually look cropped. Supposedly this is a "super wide angle" lens. Thanks in advance for any tips.

18 doesn't seem like much of a wide angle, especially on a cropped digital where it is probably more like a 27. Are yo using film or digital?

I'm using a Pentax K10D digital camera. The 18-35 is definately a wide angle lens. I visited the Pentax Forum site and I think the lens may be for a film camera.
