No, I don't believe the statement I quoted, Joe. It was just one of those fingernails down a chalkboard moments. :-)

I know your work very well Donna. You don't need any convincing on doing good PP work. Surely you don't put any stock in that statement you quoted? I'm with you on the enjoyment of doing editing. That's where the creative juices flow just as much as when your looking through the lens. And now I'm finished other than to say Thank You.

We are our own worst critic and if there is a flaw and we see it or it is pointed out, that will be forever what we see when we look at that image. What I appreciated is that you humbly showed images that had areas, tho' small, rendered them trash material. It helped to see what you saw. Sometimes I just can't figure out why my image sucks but it helps to see through another's more skilled eyeballs.

Hi Angel. What a true statement your first sentence is. I have a framed Downy on the wall and there is a knot in the trunk that should have been taken care of and wasn't. It's the first thing I look at. The Downy is pretty darn good but why do I keep looking at the knot?
If we don't show and point out our flaws, no one benefits.
Something tells me I'm preaching to the choir. You already know all this stuff.
Thanks for chiming in Carly. It's always so worthwhile.

This set of images was taken recently but was still in the "to do" file. I'm very big on post processing and will never understand the SOOC (straight out of camera) club.
Not doing PP is like saying to the viewer, "I've taken a picture for you to look at but I really don't feel like making it the best I can." Not only does PP allow you to enhance an already good picture (since bad ones are non-recoverable) but it gives you a chance to study it carefully to see what changes are required to make it easier on the eye.
These pictures were probably still in the "to do" file because I had chosen others at the time, that took precedence over the 'also ran.'
Here are my thoughts on some of these.

Well, Joe, it seems to me you are too fussy...like the swan's head being turned too far?? Man, these are outstanding shots!

Don't tell me that you are one of these people that spends eight to twelve hours doing PP on one picture? I'd give anything to shoot that clear out of the camera.

I'm with you, Joe. Nothing wrong with being our own toughest critic. That said, these are still darn good images!

We'd all like them to come clear out of the camera that way but they don't. If you don't like PP you're missing half of it.
