Wow. Amazing pictures! I especially love the one with Mom and baby. I love the composition and the exposure as well as the beautiful subjects. Congratulations on the new family member. Your focusing is superb! Any tips you can give me as this is an area I need to improve on.

Cheryl, thank you for your very generous comments. I am very much a still a student of photography and looking for victims to practice on  I've been practicing focusing on the nearest eye using spot focusing with a shallow depth of field - it works great as long and the subject holds still and you go easy on the coffee! :D Practicing is really the key, and I have only just begun! Before the baby came, I practiced focusing on a doll's eye. Good luck and if you post anything please pm me and let me know!

Beautiful photos Kerry, I know the drive was worth it. I go on my drive tomorrow to see my granddaughter, not as far, but with the traffic here it could take me four hours, my son lives in San Diego. :D :D

You are a dear, Moriti - thank you for your compliment!

Oh, and I know that road too well! But as they say, "The road to a friends house is never long".... how much truer on the road to grandkids! Have a grand time and don't forget your camera! How old is she?

She is 19 months and still has hardly any hair. I have 3 other grandkids, 12,10 and 5 I think, my wife knows all the ages & dates but they live in Texas and we only get to see them twice a year. Next month we are going there for a week, can't wait.

Pictures of the baby tomorrow please :) And the Texas branch when you go! Twice a year is just not enough - enjoy every minute!

Hi Jake! How very precious is that!? :-) She is an absolute little doll! How do you manage to stay in Vermont with someone so sweet waiting for you in Texas?

My wife and I carpool to work - as she drops me off, she says "I'll call you from Texas" - hasn't happened , yet ! But I understand the 4-hour jaunt !
