I just got this ad from High Point Scientific. This camera sounds too good to be true. What do you experienced astro photographers think?
Introducing ZWO CCD Cameras
Greetings,
ZWO is sweeping the CCD world by storm with their ultra affordable, high performance astronomy cameras. From the day we received our first shipment our staff has been more then impressed with the capabilities of this camera. Below you will find some of our favorite characteristics and features:
A great camera for the Moon, Sun, Planets, as well as Galaxies, Clusters and Nebulae.
The ZWO ASI120 CCD Camera offers a multitude of frame rate settings which max out at 215 frames per second at reduced resolution. This characteristic gives astro photographers unprecedented flexibility while imaging.
ZWO includes a 150 degree lens which, when connected, turns your ZWO ASI120 into an All-Sky Camera.
The ASI120 has a beautifully crafted CNC machined aluminum body that looks great when connected to any telescope.
A built-in ST4 Auto Guider Port allows for the easy connection of your favorite auto guider.
An integrated IR Filter eliminates infrared spectrum and protects your sensor from dust.
At a price of $329.95 and $299.95 the Monochrome and Color versions of the ZWO ASI120 are an unbeatable deal. Both cameras are in stock and shipping is on us!
ZWO ASI120 Monochrome Camera $329.95
ZWO ASI120 Color Camera $299.95
Clear Skies,
Your Friends at High Point Scientific
Is color always cheaper on a CCD camera
I wondered about that too. The image quality is supposed to be better on a B/W camera but I like the idea of color.
