"Different story............."

While serving in South Carolina, a friend of a friend was stationed at Fort Gordon Ga., some 70 miles south.
My roomie and Shank were stationed together in Korea and Shank had taken himself a lovely Korean wife. Shank invited us down for a BBQ and we were happy to get a taste of home cooked food.

When we arrived there were a wonderful mix of folks.
I was somewhat taken aback by Shanks constantly ordering his wife Lee around. "Go get more beer" "Bring me burgers" "Go cook some more sasuage" it went on and on. I happened in to the kitchen to refresh an adult beverage and had a moment alone with Lee. I mentioned that I thought Shank was a little hard on her.

She said " Different story when you go home"

Gave a whole new understanding on the situation.
Driving the 70 miles home my roomie and I chatted about the evening. He said oh yea, SHE RUNS the house and controls the money. She tells Shank when to jump and he jumps.

Funny the front some folks choose to put on to impress people.

Lovely couple

Bruce. Thank you for that story. I found it interesting and insightful. Personally speaking when I was younger I searched for acceptance until I realized that it wasn't me so much, it was THEM. When I finally understood who I was, I never needed acceptance from others. That was 40 years ago and since then I could care less what people think of me. Who needs someone else's approval? Funny, when someone puts on airs it's quite obvious. Phony and arrogant doesn't set well with me. I try to avoid such individuals. Peace. Ray with a Canon.

I live in NY, MORE than I can use right here.

NYC in one word STICKY, NYC is the only place I have ever been where, when it rains, it makes its own gravy.

Like anywhere many great people and a like amount of the others.

We find our own purpose and self appreciation in our own time . Shank was a good soldier and I have no doubt good husband and father. He simply had not yet put a leash on his ego at that point.
