I'm really struggling with gimp 2.8.6 and welcome suggestions please. Specifically, every time I attempt to open a file so that I can actually use the program, I get an error pop-up window which states that there is no disk inserted and it freezes the entire program.
In previous versions of gimp I had no problem opening files and I've never been asked for a disk before. I've uninstalled and re-installed the program several times with no success, and I seem unable to find an earlier version to download in it's place.
Any suggestions folks? Is there a work around to this, or better still, is there a way to avoid this altogether and get the program to run properly?
Thank every ONE of you who have something to contribute. I appreciate your thoughts and your expertise.

Thanks Steve, so far I haven't been able to find a way to contact Gimp to get their ideas or support.

Steve, again my thanks. I was able to follow the advice about changing my drive names in Administrative Tools with success. The program will now open files, and conceivably work as advertised. I appreciate the kind assistance.
I would never have been able to isolate the problem, or find a solution without the help.
