Cheap Hoya UV(C)

About a year ago, I bought the previous version of this filter, the UV(0) on Amazon for $53.00. Now, someone in South Korea is selling the new (C) version for $1.79. If it's a counterfeit, wouldn't he be better off selling it for a higher price to make it seem legit? Could it possibly be an actual Hoya filter? They are selling for all sorts of prices on eBay. I think I'll email Hoya and ask them.

The $1.79 price is for an opening bid, and the auction has a day or so left to go. There are no bids so far, so maybe your well-taken point has been taken by many hogs. It will be interesting to see what happens. All the best to you and others concerned about counterfeit goods on EBay, who apparently gives lip service to this issue, but little else.

I regularly report listing issues with counterfeit goods on ebay, pity more don't.
