I don't know if anyone has printed photos on aluminum-- I haven't, but I've seen some pretty impressive ones. There is currently a Groupon deal for getting an 11x14 or 16x20 at very reasonable cost, with free shipping. It is listed as the deal of the day for Minneapolis/St. Paul, but I'd think it would be available elsewhere. Just wanted to pass it along.
MetalPixs-- I'm not sure how much longer it's available. I put this note up yesterday morning, but it ended up buried on the second page.

Their current site (

Taking pictures is an excellent way to capture memories, commemorate special occasions, or get arrested at a spy convention. Display secret identities with pride with today's Groupon to MetalPixs. Choose between the following options:
For $39, you get an 11"x14" metal-printed photograph with shipping (a $103.95 value).
For $49, you get a 16"x20" metal-printed photograph with shipping (a $153.95 value).
The photo-transfer techs at MetalPixs have the technology to rebuild fragile paper-based photos into sleek metallic keepsakes, printed on a sturdy, aluminum surface. High-resolution scanners recapture the colors, lines, and imprisoned souls of traditional prints before they're enlarged. For photos in need of enhancing, MetalPixs will remove red eyes, balance color, and correct brightness and contrast gratis if asked nicely at checkout. MetalPixs ships pics for free, and guarantees a 100% refund if customers are unsatisfied.
Lens persons wishing to transfer a digital file should check out the handy guide to common sizing and resolution issues. Although not included in this Groupon, custom photo enhancements are available, such as colorization of black-and-white photographs ($45), perfect for proving the existence of elusive rainbow zebras.
There are about 14 hours left on the groupon offer (currently 9:30 CST).
I'm not sure how good their work is, but the price seems right to find out. Aluminum printing seems especially good for making bright colors pop (e.g. autumn leaves).
