If you've gotten Trey Ratcliff's latest newsletter, you know that he's switched from Nikon D800 to Sony NEX-7. This is not just a switch from one brand to another; it's a switch from one format to another. He much prefers the smaller size and lighter weight of a non-DSLR. Although he realizes that the NEX-7 is not for everyone, it is perfect for him. You can Google him and find the article. If I include a link here, the topic will be moved off the Main board.

With the excessive amount of post processing Trey does, I question whether or not it really matters what he shoots with. (I used to be a fan, but in the end I just find a lot of his stuff to be overcooked).
From what I have read, there seems a lot to be said about the NEX-7.
It is an intelligent person that chooses Sony.

I totally agree with you Chapjohn. I switched from Nikon to Sony when the A77 came out. Love the camera. I now also have the RX100 and like it very much.
I sold my Sony a-100 and Sigma 50-200 WAL on ebay,
bought a Nex-5n. I had almost mastered the A-100, but remain befuddled with the dials and gizmos in the NEX. I may be fighting it (mark me down as a hobbyist, although I use it in my real estate business); I would love a simplified guide to taking pictures in low light with the NEX.
I have had some really good shots, but the interiors are challenging. I do use fill flash, at least. Anybody want to volunteer ideal settings in low light? I bet the camera can do it.

A major complaint in the reviews of the NEX concerns controls, Menus, and the manual. Using it is not intuitive, and the manual is not much help.
thanks Jerry- Misery loves company, as they say! :-)

Probably got tired of all the extra weight he was carrying around.

That's exactly it - weight and size.

Hey Jerry, Wonder how many us here can say we have pictures hanging in the Smithsonian? I know I can't!

Since when has that have anything to do with it when it comes to cameras? Lol. I don't remember if it was my Fuji or not, but the manual said "Product of Japan. Made in China. Printed in Mexico". That was a load of laughs. I gave up on the manual.

Oh, I certainly repsect that. Everyone sees art differently.
