A repost from photo gallery forum.

Taken through an Orion Astroview 120ST and D3100.
I had set my telescope up at a park so everyone could see. Snapped this quickie photo when people weren't around. The blurry spots on the sun are sunspots!

I shot the transit of Venus on video via a D7000 and 900mm of effective focal length (300/2.8 with matched 2x extender, full frame on DX) using a bunch of ND, actually ND lighting gel, taped in front of the lens, which limited optical quality, but I had no 122mm variable ND for the thing. What I find interesting is the previous image is flipped, the nature of shooting through a telescope (and proof thereof.) The image here is a slice of a frame grab of 1080p video. Venus' ingress is at the top of the sun, and the jet, well, I'm just glad I was shooting at that moment. The shutter speed on the video was 1/8000th per frame. Had to tame the sun, which is rather bright.

I have a video on Youtube of this moment.
