I took these around the same time that I took the Death Valley pics that I posted the other day. They are from an area called Red Rock Canyon which is a few miles west of us.

Those are north of us. Up by Indian Springs. LOL
How about Scotty's Junction? Only that's Northwest.

Yea you start going the wrong way that way.
Yeah, but you get to go see the ghosts at the Goldfield Hotel.

I have driven through Tonapah quite a few times. Not much there. We are lucky here in LV. We are surrounded with photo opportunities. I am 2hrs away from Death Valley or Zion and many other areas closer.
I have driven a truck all through Nevada. There are places galore to explore. But when you get right down to it every state has many beautiful places to see if you just go see them.

You are so right. I have driven across country from here to Detroit and back but I have never taken a camera. I think if I had a camera it might take me weeks to drive instead of hours.
It would depend on the time of year. At a minimum with all the places to see on I-15, I-80,I-94 to get to Detroit it would take 3 weeks one way. But then it would take twice that long on the way back cause you would want to see the stuff you missed on the trip east.
I have been through Red Rock Canyon. A great place to photograph. I like your B/W images. Thanks for bringing back old memories.
