i am not sure if it is my cameras or my computer which is
creating the problem i am having with reds . my present cameras
are a fuji x100 and x10 , and a panasonic lx5 . i use iphoto on
a macbook pro with os x 10.5.8 . on the x100 i use astia film
simulation , have lowered the color , highlights , and shadow to
medium soft . i usually try to add contrast and then open up the shadows in pp , and when i do , the reds blow out . i have tried to include two unprocessed photos . any help will be appreciated .

Don't know if this helps but if it does all I did was adjust the curves.
[quote=mort]I cheched the camera data on picuture #1 but did not see anything unusual there.
All digital cameras have problems with blowing out reds...do a google search.
You can minimize it by not shooting reds in direct sunlight...use a scrim or shoot in shade.
thanks for the help . i didn't realize everyone had the problem , and i will have to
read all the items that came up on google . one of my problems is that my wife wears lots of red and i have to cut the contrast to make some of my photos acceptable .
thanks paul . i think the curves is mostly what i adjust in most of my pp . you can see that the red in the middle apple is starting
to blow .
Yep...it's very frustrating...been there myself.
I wish I had a real solution but basically keeping the saturation down and not shooting in full direct sun is all I can think of.
