I hope I am placing this in the correct location? My wife would like to replace her Kodak Z712 camera. She does not want to fool around with settings. She does not use the view finder so we are looking for something that has a bright screen even outdoors that will take Good photos. She also is taking photos indoors as we have 6 grandchildren and a few dogs ! so it has to process crisp indoors as well. I know may people have different opinions but any help would be great. Our budget should be under $350
Thanks for all your help

How long is a piece of string, 100 people and perhaps 100 different cameras, we shall see
There are a of point & shoot cameras out there for under $350.00 that are geard to automatic shooting. My Wife has a Nikon s8100, there's no shutter speed or apeture to set, just a few scene modes and takes decent pictures.
The Canon SX500 (not to be confused with the SX50) is a nice one.

For a somewhat equivalent, but current camera, there are MANY choices. Fuji has several models that come in under your $350, plus a number of others.
For just a little bit more (between 350 & 400) you open up to get the excellent capabilities of the Canon SX50 (approx 370 some places) that has a viewfinder, but I personally seldom use it, and many other great features. The Canon SX500 is avail for under 300, but has a shorter zoom, and may fit her criteria. Then Nikon has the P520, or you might still be able to find the previous model P510 for under 400. Panasonic also has some models in approximately your price range.
MOST, if not all, of these offering allow setting to FULL AUTO plus Program mode, etc. Program mode is basically Auto but does allow you to adjust exposure +/- if you want to.
And then of course Kodak has licensed their name to a company that now has a similar style camera out, but I don't know the price or features yet.
I am not going to even look at the price I paid for a recent purchase of a P&S but think it does com within your budget.
No viewfinder, SD cards, with Eye Fi support Olympus XZ-2. Various P&S 'Sceme modes'
The advantage of this camera is it has all the P&S modes ..but...big BUT..it does have manual operation too..and RAW if you wish..so she can use it as a P&S..and then if you are out and about and suddenly feel the need to be a bit more creative with it.
I bought mine as a work camera, to take in the cockpit with me..the 5D3 plus lenses is a bit much!!
I think the best place to start for review has to be DP review.
You can select many cameras and then view as side by side comparison as s chart..selecting features you and your wife want.
Thanks, I will read about the reviews and scores later. I just want her to be happy once I buy it.
You should seriously think about not buying her a camera this time, but a smartphone, the new Nokia Lumia 1020. It has a camera that is much better than most point and shoot cameras today and by far the very best camera in any phone made so far. With this phone she will always be carrying a very good camera without carrying anything but her phone. Google Nokia Lumia 1020 reviews to read about the phone and the camera and see some pics taken with this phone.

IMHO anything in that price range will provide more than adequate results.
Todays market is so competitive the specs and quality will be so close to each other it is impossible to make a bad choice.
I would suggest going to a camera shop and put her hands on as many cameras as is necessary, the camera will tell her which one feels "right" in her hands.

Answer: Twice as long as the distance from one end to the centre
I recommend a Lumix TZ20/30, they go for about £150 - £200 here in the UK. I use my TZ20 alongside my main camera and the quality is just a good.
