Hello all. I used be to "into" film photography. Started out with a Pentax K-1000, moved up to Canon Rebel. Used that for some time and lost interest, mostly due to time and cost of processing. I recently changed cellular phones to a Samsung Focus. What does this have to do with photography? The Focus has an incredible 5mp built in camera. This has renewed my interest. I bit the bullet and bought a Canon Rebel T3i 600D. Pricey, but if it lasts, should be the last camera I'll ever buy. Seems pretty complicated, but I guess I'll figure it out. Probably has more features than I'll ever use. I have a Kodak 80-210 Zoom with the Canon mount and a Speedlight 200 flash. Now with all that said, I'm looking forward to being a member of Ugly Hedgehog, learning about digital photography and my new camera. Here are a few of my unedited shots from the Focus. Looking for hints and tips about the Rebel T3i and constructive criticism on any photos that I post. Thanks in advance.

Enjoy. Try to learn one new thing about your camera every day.

the camera manual is your best friend and center of all wisdom. if it is difficult to comprehend, try the magic lantern guide for your cannon. liked your first 2 shots, especialy the reflection in 2.

I picked up my t3i in July of this year after holding out for a long time. To date I've shot over 9,000 pics with it. RMM says learn something about it every day - true words! Don't be afraid to experiment. Pixels are free!

If you are into reading before doing then the Magic Lantern books, owner manual, etc. are great. Bryan Peterson has several excellent books on photography that have helped me tremendously! The folks on here (most of them) are also a good sounding board.

Enjoy the camera!

About two years ago I upgraded from a Casio EX-X1000 to a Canon Rebel T1i/500D. I tried using the manual and even bought a very big supplementary manual which got me even more confused. What finally parted the "clouds of ignorance" was a DVD put out by Blue Crane Digital. They make these instructional discs for just about every make and model of camera. They cost $29.95...maybe less on Amazon, etc. It worked for me... (bluecranedigital.com)

Thank You. That link, bluecranedigital.com , does look good. I'm a "visual", hands on type of person. Books don't always "click".
