Once a year I work 4 long days taking photos for a very close friend for her recital book. We take about 1500 pictures and work it down to a 150 for the book. I am going to retire the D90 and buy a D800e for next year. Please feel free to C&C.

I think they are terrific. Nice lighting and the white background works with these shots.

You're being much too modest! Anyone can push buttons
but you push exceptionally well

Thanks Jenny

I can push buttons all day long but only when the subject is at its best does it all come together.

Excellent lighting and a nice clean sweep with just enough shadow to anchor the subjects. Mind sharing your setup with us? If I had to critique anything, I would say watch for broken arms...the first one's left elbow. Less weight on her arm would straighten the arm. That many shots and 4 grueling days must have been exhausting...you did supremely well. ;-)

Very Nice! #2 & #4 are really special though, because the girls let their personalities shine, and you caught it.

Thanks Photo8

I use 4 white umbrellas with all flash heads on full power with white vinyl 9'X24' backdrop. Two flash stands even with the dancer aiming across and behind the dancer. The other two aimed on 45 aimed at the posing position. All bouncing on the inside of the white umbrellas. I setup the day before and shoot test shots plus and minus 3 stops from F10 on three spots I plan on using like 6',9' and 12'. I use a D90 with a Nikkor 35-70mm f2.8 D on ASA200. I use Lighroom 5 to lower the background one full stop. Plus lots PP to clean up if needed. I will be using a D800e next year. I hope I am answering your question and please feel free ask again if you need more info.
